Doreen Lawrence OBE to Headline Inclusion Conference

Doreen Lawrence OBE, Director of the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust will headline a major event in Liverpool aimed at addressing black and racial minority issues as well as highlighting positive aspects of inclusion.

The event:- BE INSPIRED 2006 organised by Merseyside Expanding Horizons (MEH) in partnership with Merseyside Disability Federation (MDF) will be held on 3rd October 2006 at Crowne Plaza Hotel, Liverpool.

Merseyside Expanding Horizons Launch ‘Inclusive Impact’
Merseyside Expanding Horizons (MEH) has launched a new social enterprise, ‘Inclusive Impact Ltd’ which will utilise their social inclusion expertise to deliver holistic and tailored events, seminars and training packages for leading professionals within the public, private and voluntary sector.

National Heroes to Inspire Merseyside
The people of Merseyside are to be inspired at an event which will bring to Liverpool, national heroes alongside local outstanding achievers to showcase inspirational stories of how they overcame barriers in their lives to achieve success. Organised by Merseyside Expanding Horizons, the event titled ‘Be Inspired’ will celebrate achievement, inspire and motivate through presenting a positive view of inclusion and exploring issues around overcoming barriers to achieve goals.

Local Groups Meet to Fight Poverty on Merseyside
Community and voluntary groups across Merseyside met with national  Government representatives at a unique event - Merseyside ‘Getting Heard’ – which, for the first time, enabled those experiencing poverty/social exclusion the opportunity to influence the Government’s forthcoming ‘UK National Action Plan for Social Inclusion (NAPSI) 2006’.

Merseyside at the Forefront of Government Plans to Tackle Poverty in the UK

Community and voluntary groups across Merseyside are coming together to influence the UK National Action Plan for Social Inclusion 2006. Over the past few months groups have been meeting to discuss issues, ideas and potential solutions that could be fed into the National action Plan. Following on from these “Get Heard” workshops, the Merseyside ‘Getting Heard’ event will enable workshop participants to feedback key issues, to inform and to decide how to take things forward.

Voluntary and Public Sector Unite in the Inclusion & Enterprise Debate

Key representatives from both the Voluntary and Public sector in Merseyside came together to explore the role that enterprise can play in tackling social exclusion and to identify any specific gaps and barriers in current provision at a unique event held by Merseyside Expanding Horizons (MEH), in partnership with Business Link Greater Merseyside at Lace Centre, Sefton Park, Liverpool, on 12 May 2005.
